BRAOU to introduce digital on-screen evaluation system

Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) would introduce a unique Digital On-Screen Evaluation System (DOES) from this year onwards that allows the examiners to evaluate answer scripts from a computer rather than going all the way to BRAOU campus in Hyderabad for the purpose. BRAOU Vice-Chancellor K. Seetharama Rao said it would be initially be introduced in postgraduate exams and later would be extended to undergraduate courses as well. Prof. Rao said the university was also planning to offer computer applications, statistics and geography subjects as new optionals for undergraduate students from 2018-19 academic year. The university was also taking measures to establish 10 Regional Coordination Centres (RCCs) in the newly-formed districts of Telangana. 22nd convocationThe 22nd convocation of the university would be held on April 20 at 5 p.m. on the campus where Governor E.S.L.

The answer script of a candidate along with the thumb impression of the invigilators would be scanned which would be accessed by an examiner in a computer at his/her location. It would be evaluated and sent back to the varsity along with the marks awarded. The unique initiative would help in cutting down on the time taken for evaluation and long distance travel for examiners, while the digital information could be stored for future use, he said. Prof. Rao said the university was also planning to offer computer applications, statistics and geography subjects as new optionals for undergraduate students from 2018-19 academic year. He said the university was taking all measures to make certificates available on the National Academic Depository (NAD) to facilitate students to download theirs and also help other educational institutions and employers in verification. The university was also taking measures to establish 10 Regional Coordination Centres (RCCs) in the newly-formed districts of Telangana. 22nd convocation The 22nd convocation of the university would be held on April 20 at 5 p.m. on the campus where Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan would award M.Phil and Ph.D degrees, gold medals and book prizes to students, while N.V. Varghese, Vice-Chancellor, National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (Deemed University), New Delhi, would deliver the convocation address. Prof. Rao said 106 student prisoners would receive their degrees across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
