more-in Just off the P.V. Narasimha Rao Expressway, under the right side of pillar number 135, is a short stretch of road between Janapriya Utopia, an apartment cluster, and the main road. Over the past 17 years, the road has been relaid five times. There are five inaugural plaques in a short span of, perhaps, 20 metres in length. The latest round of relaying of the cement concrete (CC) Road was done in December 2017. But alas! If you search for the road you will not find it from where it is supposed to begin. Half of it has not even been relaid after the work on a pipeline was done. Problems abound The plaque mentions that the CC Road covers the distance between Eshwar Theatre and the Subhash Chandra Bose Statue. But in front of the Eshwar theatre there is no road. To compound the problem, five speed breakers have been added to the road over which vehicle drivers curse as they bounce around and senior citizens and children stumble while walking in the absence of markers and indicators. “There are multiple agencies that are doing the work. We will ensure that the road is laid for the distance specified,” said a senior GHMC officer of Ward no 61 under whose jurisdiction the road has been laid. “They are not supposed to put speed breakers on the road. If we get a complaint we are removing them immediately. Speed-breakers As a policy, speed breakers are not supposed to be laid on inner roads,” the official said, adding that the cost of laying the road might be under ?10 lakh. While the 2001 and 2003 plaques don’t have the amount specified for laying the road, the 2008 plaque specified ?15 lakh. In 2010 ?9.95 lakh were spent on the road. Now, sewage flows on the street where the road should be there. Ribbon-cutting stint 24/10/2001- P. Sabitha Indra Reddy 19/05/2003 - P. Sabitha Indra Reddy 17/10/2008 - P.
