TDP to move no-trust motion against Centre

It was the opposition YSR Congress that issued the notice for the no-confidence motion and later the TDP that decided to give its own notice. A booklet on the injustice meted out to Andhra Pradesh would be prepared and distributed, Mr. Naidu told the party MPs. He wanted the MPs to meet Opposition MPs personally and explain the injustice meted out to Andhra Pradesh post-bifurcation and that several provisions of the A.P. Mr. Naidu apparently told the party MPs that he would personally talk to the Opposition leaders seeking their support. The no-confidence motion might not bring down the NDA government, but by doing so, the TDP would send a strong message that it is in no mood to compromise on the issue of Special Category Status.

TDP MP and former Union Minister Sujana Choudhary told The Hindu here on Friday that party president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu gave a direction to the party MPs to move no-confidence motion against the BJP government in the monsoon session commencing on July 18 for going back on its promise of Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh. This is the second time the TDP would be moving the motion after its persistent demand to do so in the Budget session earlier this year was not successful. Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan refused to take up the notices for the no-confidence citing that the House was not in order. It was the opposition YSR Congress that issued the notice for the no-confidence motion and later the TDP that decided to give its own notice. However, neither of the notices were taken up by the Speaker due to repeated adjournments in the Parliament. The no-confidence motion might not bring down the NDA government, but by doing so, the TDP would send a strong message that it is in no mood to compromise on the issue of Special Category Status. Mr. Naidu apparently told the party MPs that he would personally talk to the Opposition leaders seeking their support. He wanted the MPs to meet Opposition MPs personally and explain the injustice meted out to Andhra Pradesh post-bifurcation and that several provisions of the A.P. State Reorganisation Act remain unfulfilled. The government owes an explanation on the floor of the Parliament why it had gone back on the promises made to A.P., including the SCS. A booklet on the injustice meted out to Andhra Pradesh would be prepared and distributed, Mr. Naidu told the party MPs.
