more-in Paying Guest Online (PGO), a Hyderabad-based PG accommodation and hostel finding startup, on Thursday announced that is is all set to expand its network and enter Pune, Chennai and Bengaluru. According to chief executive officer Hari Krishna, PGO has an existing network of around 3,000 PG accommodation and hostels in Pune, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. With the first leg of angel investments complete, the startup plans to introduce PGO services to 15 other cities by listing up to 25,000 properties by 2020. Mr. Krishna said that PGO is available as a smart phone app and on the web platform. Most of the around 20,000 downloads, he said, are by the youth. He said that PG accommodation and hostels are known usually by their postal address and that they have not entered the digital realm. Once on the PGO network, a host is given a web page, thus giving them digital address as against just a postal address. To keep the trust of guests, PGO physically verifies amenities which hosts list and gives them a ‘verified tag’. “With a smart phone, they can be empowered guests. The host can be smart hosts,” he said and maintained that PGO is not a room aggregator.
