According to the Knight Frank India report India Real Estate, while the IT and ITeS share of transacted office space fell to 36% in H1 2018 from 51% in H1 2017, the other service sectors (advertising, media, consultancies and research) saw a 20% increase in the same period to 43% out of which co-working garnered 29% space. Explaining the trend, Knight Frank India Branch Director Samson Arthur said, “Hyderabad has seen pre-commitment of co-working spaces. People are willing to take that as a new business model. The city is witnessing top brands of co-working spaces coming to set up centres and offer completely new experience and our reports indicate this will continue to grow.” Mr. Arthur described co-working spaces are set to redefine office space real estate as the traditional method of calculating floor space per person becomes largely redundant. “Imagine we go back to our offices and we don’t have dedicated desks. We work with a lot of efficiency. Everything is modern and contemporary. Co-working spaces will redefine how you will work. In that sense, the square footage goes for a toss.”
