EMRI gives new deadline to striking workers

HYDERABAD: The GVK EMRI authorities on Saturday gave an ultimatum to protesting 108 ambulance workers to 'unconditionally' return to work by 8pm on Sunday (August 19).The workers, who fail to report to duty on Sunday, will be terminated. "The full and final settlement of their dues including salaries, gratuity etc will be done on Monday and cheques will be sent to their respective homes. This way all ties with the workers who chose to remain on strike, will be severed,” said Dr Brahmananda Rao, chief operating officer, GVK EMRI, Telangana Around 620 workers affiliated with the Telangana State 108 Employees Union have been on partial strike since August 10 and on a complete strike since August 14.The management had declared on August 14 that all the workers have been sacked, With this new ultimatum, the workers including Emergency Medical Technicians and pilots (ambulance drivers) have got another opportunity to join back duty.
