75k double entry voters identified in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: More than 75,000 voters with names in different electoral rolls have been identified in 15 Assembly constituencies of Hyderabad district, officials said. “Double entry votes can be removed by filling form 7 which is available at polling stations or by visiting http://ceotelangana.nic.in . Hyderabad is to get 5,170 Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines which will be attached to EVMs. I request people to vote and ensure clean election,” said M Dana Kishore, GHMC commissioner. We will play short films, give advertisements in newspapers, TV and cinema halls to create awareness,” said Kishore.

HYDERABAD: More than 75,000 voters with names in different electoral rolls have been identified in 15 Assembly constituencies of Hyderabad district, officials said. Earlier this month, a massive two lakh names of bogus, dead and repeat voters were deleted by authorities.Compared to total electors in the final rolls as of September 2016 in Hyderabad (40,39,638), the total electoral strength in 2018 stood at 38,06,009. Maximum number of deletions have been witnessed in Goshamahal constituency (54,221) followed by Amberpet constituency (29,928) and Khairatabad (23,442).While the latest record is yet to be drafted, the GHMC is issuing notices to the people with double entries. “Double entry votes can be removed by filling form 7 which is available at polling stations or by visiting http://ceotelangana.nic.in . I request people to vote and ensure clean election,” said M Dana Kishore, GHMC commissioner. He also said that each polling station will have 25 booth-level officers (BLOs) to assist voters and stringent action will taken by BLOs who don’t perform their duties.“I made a surprise inspection in Khairtabad Zone and a BLO, A Nagesh was not available to assist people at the polling station. He has been suspended and a complaint was lodged against him,” said Dana Kishore. Hyderabad is to get 5,170 Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines which will be attached to EVMs. Voters can see the name serial number and party symbol after casting the vote using VVPAT.The VVPATs will be set up in 3,826 polling booths.GHMC officials said that awareness programmes to increasing polling percentage will be carried out in the city. “Total 15 NGO have come forward to help us. We will play short films, give advertisements in newspapers, TV and cinema halls to create awareness,” said Kishore.
