Cong. announces 9 committees for State elections

Bose Raju, Saleem Ahmed, Srinivasan Krishnan — apart from PCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Mr. Bhatti Vikramarka, Mr. K. Jana Reddy, Mr. Shabbir Ali, Mr. Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Mr. Damodar Rajnarasimha, Mr. Madhu Yashki Goud, Mr. G. Chinna Reddy, Mr. A. Sampath Kumar and Mr. Vamshichand Reddy. AICC secretaries, PCC president and AICC incharge will also be the members. Late in the evening, Congress appointed another committee — Publicity Committee for Telangana PCC and it will be led by Komatireddy Venkata Reddy. The lists were released by All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday evening after apparently being whetted by AICC president Rahul Gandhi during his brief stopover at the Hyderabad Airport on Tuesday night. Lot of youngsters were drafted into the committees with some Osmania University students leaders like Manavata Roy also finding a place.

more-in Preparations of the Telangana Congress for the Assembly polls were expedited with 10 committees announced on Wednesday while two more working presidents were added to the existing team. Two firebrand leaders — A. Revanth Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar — are the two new working presidents. The decision on working presidents ensures social justice with Mr. Prabhakar belonging to the BC community and Mr. Revanth from the OC community. The lists were released by All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday evening after apparently being whetted by AICC president Rahul Gandhi during his brief stopover at the Hyderabad Airport on Tuesday night. Massive exercise seems to has been done as the party accommodated majority of the senior leaders leaving none to sulk and ensuring caste combinations were worked perfectly apart from using the experience of all seniors. Lot of youngsters were drafted into the committees with some Osmania University students leaders like Manavata Roy also finding a place. Senior leaders lobbied at New Delhi for various posts, particularly for the Campaign Committee and Mr. Revanth Reddy was expected to lead it given his strong anti-KCR image and his ability to connect with people in the Telangana dialect just like caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. The much anticipated Campaign Committee, however, will be led by Mr. Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka while D.K. Aruna will be the co-chairperson and Sravan Dasoju convenor. Core committee The Core Committee consists of AICC incharge for Telangana R.C. Khuntia, three secretaries — N.S. Bose Raju, Saleem Ahmed, Srinivasan Krishnan — apart from PCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Mr. Bhatti Vikramarka, Mr. K. Jana Reddy, Mr. Shabbir Ali, Mr. Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Mr. Damodar Rajnarasimha, Mr. Madhu Yashki Goud, Mr. G. Chinna Reddy, Mr. A. Sampath Kumar and Mr. Vamshichand Reddy. The Pradesh Election Committee is the largest with 41 members led by TPCC president and it includes LoPs, former PCC presidents, AICC secretaries, former Union ministers and State ministers, former MPs, and some senior leaders from the districts. It also includes 11 members, mostly chairpersons and presidents of various party wings. Former Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha will head the Manifesto Committee and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy is made co-chairperson while B. Mahesh Kumar Goud will be convenor. AICC secretaries, PCC president and AICC incharge will also be the members. Senior leader, V. Hanumantha Rao is chairman of Strategy and Planning Committee while Sarve Satyanarayana, Madhu Yashki Goud and Sridhar Babu will be co-chairpersons and P. Sudhakar Reddy will be convenor. The LDMRC Committee will be led by Arepally Mohan and D. Ravinder Naik is co-chairperson and H. Venugopal Rao convenor. Simiarly, Election Commission Coordination Committee will be led by Marri Shashidhar Reddy while B. Kamalaker Rao will be co-chairperson. M. Kodanda Reddy is chairman of Disciplinary Action Committee. Late in the evening, Congress appointed another committee — Publicity Committee for Telangana PCC and it will be led by Komatireddy Venkata Reddy. The party also appointed former MP and film star Vijayashanti as ‘Star Campaigner’ and advisor to the Election Campaign Committee.
