Suspected Maoist held in East Godavari district

KAKINADA: East Godavari police have arrested a Maoist who was wanted in 15 major cases, police said on Monday. Gunni said Muda had participated in 15 major incidents from 2005 and 198 persons died and 122 weapons stolen from those incidents from Maoists. The arrest was made on Sunday.According to Vishal Gunni, the SP of East Godavari district , the alleged Maoist, Podiyam Muda, was arrested at Bojjiguppa “T” Junction on Bhadrachalam-Cherla road during vehicle checking. Recently, Muda allegedly participated in Palodi EOF (Kistaram PS) on March 13, 2018 where nine CRPF men were killed in a skirmish with the Maoists. Later, he worked in PLGA Hiduma Battalion as 1st platoon’s 1st section commander.Muda has participated in 15 major Exchange of Fire (EOF) incidents overall, Gunni claimed.

The police have seized 20 detonators and 20 gelatine sticks from his possession.Gunni said that Muda started working in Dornapal area in Chhattisgarh in 2005 on the orders of Deva, who is dal commander Dornapal Local Operational Station. Later, he was transferred to 4th platoon and worked as dal member from 2007 to 2009 and he was promoted as deputy commander in 3rd company at that time. He escaped from Polampalli police Station by committing theft of SLR weapon with magazine and 100 rounds on September 20, 2011 and Chhattisgarh police registered a case in this connection. Later, he worked in PLGA Hiduma Battalion as 1st platoon’s 1st section commander.Muda has participated in 15 major Exchange of Fire (EOF) incidents overall, Gunni claimed. Some of the major incidents are Udpametta EOF (Chintaguppa P.S, Chhattisgarh) on July 9, 2007 where 26 CRPF men were killed, Tadimetal EOF ( Kistaram PS, Chhattisgarh) on April 6, 2010 where 26 CRPF men were killed, Giram Ghat EOF on July 25, 2014 where 29 CRPF including the minister Mahendra Karma died, Burkapal EOF on April 24, 2007 where 26 CRPF personnel were killed. Recently, Muda allegedly participated in Palodi EOF (Kistaram PS) on March 13, 2018 where nine CRPF men were killed in a skirmish with the Maoists.
