HYDERABAD: Going to polls on December 7, Telangana has now been hit by a "cash-for-no-meet' scam. Going by a recorded conversation, which went viral on social media, a Congress candidate made an offer of 25 lakh to an MIM leader not to hold the latter's party meeting in Nirmal.The ' indecent proposal ' was outrightly rejected by the MIM leader, who said he would never do such a thing as taking money for such purposes. This offer of cash also brings back memories of the infamous cash-for-vote scam of 2015. In that case, then TDP MLA Revanth Reddy, who is now Congress working president, had approached nominated Anglo-Indian MLA Elvis Stephenson to vote for the party's nominee in the MLC election. In the video-recording of the incident, some 50 lakh cash was placed on a table by a person who reportedly accompanied Revanth to Stephenson's house at Tarnaka. The ACB arrested Revanth Reddy in the case and sent him to jail. In the incident, Revanth made him speak to his 'boss'. Chandrababu Naidu. The TDP supremo, however, denied that it was his voice on the tape.In the latest episode, MIM Bhainsa municipal vice-chairman Jabair Ahmed, as heard in the phone conversation, gets a call from one identifying himself as 'Rama Rao'. Jabair recognises the voice and politely acknowledges it. This Rama Rao is being understood as Congress Mudhole candidate Rama Rao Pawar Patil. Rama Rao gets down to business right away. He asks Jabair if he was alone or surrounded by anyone. Jabiar tells him he was alone and at home. Rama Rao makes sure again and then informs him that 'Maheshwar Reddy' was with him. Maheshwar Reddy here is understood as Congress candidate from Nirmal.When TOI tried to reach Maheshwar Reddy for his version, he did not take the call and did not respond to a message.
