Telangana budget: Irrigation gets top priority

For the development of Scheduled Caste communities, the TRS government earmarked Rs 16,580 crore, Rs 9,780 crore for Scheduled Tribes and Rs 2,004 crore for minorities. On revised estimates for 2018-19, KCR said total expenditure in 2018-19 is estimated at Rs1,61,857 crore. The Interim Budget — the sixth budget to be presented by the TRS government — has a total outlay of Rs 1,82,017 crore for the year 2019-20. KCR said the state’s revenue for 2019-20 was estimated to be Rs94,776 crore in comparison with Rs72,777 crore for 2018-19. Of this, revenue expenditure is Rs1,19,027 crore and capital expenditure Rs28,053 crore.

HYDERABAD: Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in his avatar as finance minister presented his first budget, though an interim one, keeping the focus firmly on farmers as he gave top priority to irrigation and agriculture. While all poll promises were given allocation, no new schemes or announcements were made in the Interim Budget.The irrigation sector got the lion’s share (Rs 22,500 crore), followed by agriculture sector (Rs 21,000 crore). While the figures presented are for the entire year, the Appropriation Bill will be for the first six months. KCR said the state’s revenue for 2019-20 was estimated to be Rs94,776 crore in comparison with Rs72,777 crore for 2018-19. Central funds will be about Rs22,385 crore compared to Rs28,042 crore in 2018-19. On revised estimates for 2018-19, KCR said total expenditure in 2018-19 is estimated at Rs1,61,857 crore. Of this, revenue expenditure is Rs1,19,027 crore and capital expenditure Rs28,053 crore.
