The administration has refused to share a copy of the contract signed with CN Reddy, and the tender documents from other participants Photo: Twitter @TISSpeak Hyderabad: The students of Tata Institute of Social Sciences are protesting the college’s new fee structure and hostel facilities, as it is driving socio-economically disadvantaged students to drop out. The protest has been going on for five days since Monday with no satisfactory response from the administration. The students claim that this year, the service provider, CN Reddy, was chosen in a non-transparent manner, without consulting the students. A student said that the new service provider wants them to pay the hostel and mess charges for the entire semester upfront. Earlier, the students used to pay the fee in affordable instalments. “The administration has refused to share a copy of the contract signed with CN Reddy, and the tender documents from other participants. It looks like there was no tender at all this year,” the student added. “The provision of paying Rs 15,000 as accommodation charges in three instalments as mentioned in the admission guidelines to be reinstated… For this the institute has to provide an assurance to the service provider, which the institute is adamant on not providing,” read a press release issued by the TISS Students Action Committee – TOI report. The students also threatened to intensify their stir against the administration as their failure to address the issue had forced many students to drop out from the course.
