Police denies permission to BJP MLA Raja Singh for public meet

A+ A-Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Police today denied permission to BJP MLA T Raja Singh to hold a public meeting at NTR stadium in the city in support of the Citizen Amendment Act (CAA) on Saturday. Mr. Raja Singh, who is the MLA from Goshamahal, had on December 21 written a letter to Hyderabad Police Commissioner seeking permission to hold the public meeting on Saturday. In a letter to the Commissioner of Police Raja Singh said that the BJP State Committee has decided to hold a public meeting in support of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019. In the meeting, Dr K Laxman, president BJP Telangana was invited as the chief guest,Mr. Raja Singh said in the letter to the Commissioner.

He had said that other state party leaders were also set to participate in the program. Major protests have erupted in several parts of the country against the newly-enacted citizenship law, which grants citizenship to persecuted Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Parsis, Buddhists, and Christians from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh, who came to India on or before December 31, 2014. The BJP, on the other hand, is holding rallies and public meetings in support of the same.However the Police Commissioner denied permission and said that political parties can hold their meetings in their Party offices .
