Students speak their mind through art

Students of Oakridge International School hosted an art and theatre show in the city on Sunday. Today’s students believe that there is so much that they do, so much they believe in and so much that they have to say. Students from classes VIII to XII were the artists behind it while students from few other schools too joined the Oakridgers. The Oarkridge International School plans to come up with more such exhibitions in future. I am sure more students would come up with ideas,” Mr. Rao told The Hindu.

more-in Students of Oakridge International School hosted an art and theatre show in the city on Sunday. The event, a class apart, showcased an ensemble of photographs, installations and paintings. The ideas expressed were mostly children’s response to potentially vicious and often disgusting events taking place around them. Short film They also have put together a short film that addresses some of the complexities being faced by today’s generation and ways to tackle them. “This event is our expression of anguish, concern towards a menace and our way to reach out. We wanted to tackle certain issues head on while embodying the spirit of the youth,” said Divyansh Saksena, a student. Oakridgers Esha Khicha, Divyansh Saksena, Navya Gudimetla, Armaan Pishori and Raviteja Vajja were the core team behind the initiative. Speaking to the gathering, Arjun Rao, school principal, said, “This exhibition took its birth through conversations we have been having at the school about the complexities involved in growing up in the 21st century. Today’s students believe that there is so much that they do, so much they believe in and so much that they have to say. This exhibition is an expression of this idea”. The exhibition was held at the Muse Art Gallery at Marriot Hotel. Students from classes VIII to XII were the artists behind it while students from few other schools too joined the Oakridgers. The Oarkridge International School plans to come up with more such exhibitions in future. “We could have another event on these lines during the same period the next academic year. I am sure more students would come up with ideas,” Mr. Rao told The Hindu. Students from both the international curriculum and the CBSE participated.
