8 year old climate activist from Manipur refuses to take part in SheInspiresUs campaign

MANIPUR: Licypriya Kangujam, the 8-year-old climate change activist from Manipur has refused to take part in Narendra Modi's 'SheInspiresUs' campaign. Thank you for selecting me amongst the inspiring women of the country under your initiative #SheInspiresUs. Minutes after the tweet, social media went abuzz as to why the Prime Minister was thinking about leaving social media platforms. Recently the national capital witnessed heavy use of social media to propagate rumors which resulted in amplified effects of riots in Delhi. MANIPUR: Licypriya Kangujam, the 8-year-old climate change activist from Manipur has refused to take part in Narendra Modis SheInspiresUs campaign. Instead she wants the government to do something about climate change. She sent out some tweets: Dear @narendramodi Ji, Please dont celebrate me if you are not going to listen my voice. Thank you for selecting me amongst the inspiring women of the country under your initiative #SheInspiresUs. After thinking many times, I decided to turns down this honour. ?? Jai Hind! pic.twitter.com/pjgi0TUdWa — Licypriya Kangujam (@LicypriyaK) March 6, 2020 One of her tweet reads, “I am living for 3,040 days (Aged: 8 years 4 months 1 day) of living in this World till today. I have planted approx. 51,000 trees in total till date which is equivalent to planting 16 trees everyday since my birth for last 8+ years.” She doesnt like being called the “Greta of India”. She tweeted. “I am not doing my activism to looks like Greta Thunberg. Yes, she is one of our Inspiration & great influencer. We have common goal but I have my own identity, story. I began my movement since July 2018 even before Greta was started.” Modi on Monday had surprised everyone after he tweeted that he was thinking of giving up social media accounts. Minutes after the tweet, social media went abuzz as to why the Prime Minister was thinking about leaving social media platforms. There was speculation that the reason for thinking of going away from social media might be the alleged misuse of it to spread rumors. Recently the national capital witnessed heavy use of social media to propagate rumors which resulted in amplified effects of riots in Delhi. Later he clarified that he is not going to give up his social media accounts. Instead on March 8, on the occasion of Womens Day, he is going to give away his social media accounts to inspiring women. He tweeted, “This Womens Day, I will give away my social media accounts to women whose life & work inspire us. This will help them ignite motivation in millions.Are you such a woman or do you know such inspiring women?
