Indore: A group of dancers from Indore has won the World Cup of Folklore , a championship which was organised in Bulgaria , from May 17 to 19. It is being organised by European Association of Folklore Festivals and World Association of Folklore Festivals.Makkhar participated in the contest held at Veliko Tarnovo, a city in north central Bulgaria. Makkhar and her group have also applied for the participation there. The results of the contest were declared on Sunday and Indore’s Kathak exponent Ragini Makkhar was awarded the trophy of Grand Prix - World Cup of Folklore- Veliko Tarnovo, along with a cash prize of 1000 Euros.The group has also won a voucher to participate in World Championship of Folklore.The championship is being organised at different cities of the world before the final folklore championship in August 2018. Her group of 23 dancers performed the Indian dance form at the festival alongside live music.As many as 26 countries participated in the event and the next two phases of the event will be held in Italy and later a session of workshops on folk dance will also be conducted in Paris.
