To make it sweeter, she was part of the team that had set the previous record as well. The Class XII student has brought glory to the country, but in a sign of how difficult it is to remain a sportsperson in India, Shreya's school had refused to give her any concession in attendance for her sports engagements, forcing her to drop out."She joined Gun for Glory Academy in Jabalpur three years ago, and soon started winning gold medals. However, she had to skip school now and then to participate in sports events. She is excellent in academics and scores above 8 CGPA. But her school would sometimes accept her leave applications, and sometimes reject them. We did not want her to face trouble because of her studies. So, we opted to have her continue as a non-regular student," said her father Sanjay Agrawal, an inspector with provident fund.He recalled how hard it was for them in the early days to send her out of Jabalpur for championships. "It wasn't easy for us but her coaches at GFG had high hopes of her and managed to convince us. Today, I am a proud father of a proud daughter," said Sanjay. Shreya's mother Meena Agrawal is a schoolteacher.
