205 km new rail line between Indore and Budni to connect backward areas

Indore: The railways on Wednesday announced to construct a new rail line of 205 kilometre between Indore (Mangaliyagaon) and Budni. It will provide better transport facilities for public and industries in this area. “The distance between Jabalpur and Indore will be reduced by 68 km compared to present available route via Bhopal,” they said.The project will also reduce travel time between Indore and Mumbai as well as towards South India. The estimated cost of this project is Rs3262 crore.The proposed rail line will be laid from existing yard of Budni and will connect Mangaliyagaon existing station near Indore under the Western Railway.An official note from the railways said that 10 crossing stations and seven halt stations have been proposed to be constructed on this route. The new stations will be Balkhera, Mathni, Barghau, Nasrullaganj, Balagao, Babcha, Pipliya, Khategaon, Sirsodia, Kannod, Devli, Burhani, Kheri, Gobardhanpura, Akhepur, Bhokakheri and Pane.“This newly proposed line will go through Sehore, Dewas and Indore districts and will provide a direct link from Budni to Indore bypassing the congested route of Bhopal-Itarsi, including the ghat section from Budni to Berkheda,” said a railways spokesman.The new line will provide basic infrastructural support for industrial development of the surrounding area and will have large socio-economic benefits, he added.Officials said that project will help in development of backward areas of this region and provide connectivity to areas like Nasrullaganj, Khategoan and Kannod, where there is no rail connectivity at present.Officials said that this new rail line will also help in reducing travel time from Indore to Jabalpur.
