INDORE: Youth-related issues have taken centre stage in Dewas district and are likely to dictate the outcome of the upcoming assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh.Around 30 per cent voters of the district are below 30 years of age and political parties are trying to woo this chunk to win the ballot war.Out of the total 10,70,140 voters in the entire Dewas district, 3,20,490 voters are below 30 years of age, according to the Election Commission data. Rising resentment over unemployment, wage disparity and lack of infrastructure to attract industries in the region have prompted both ruling and opposition parties to roll out plans to lure young voters.BJP's Dewas unit president Nand Kishore Patidar said, “We are planning a youth convention in Dewas. We will not only hear their problems but will also incorporate their suggestions in our manifesto.” BJP is ruling all the five constituencies of Dewas district — Sonkutch, Dewas, Hatpipliya, Khategoan and Bagli. Dewas has been a saffron stronghold since past 28 years.Patidar said, “The youth are very satisfied under the BJP rule as the grownups know what the condition was under the previous Congress regime. For new and young voters, we will make them aware of the plight of people under the Congress government.”Dewas district Congress committee president Manoj Rajani said, “We are collecting data on unemployed youths of the region. We are getting forms filled by youths wherein they would provide details of employment and wage.”Rajani said, “Youths are devastated and have lost hopes because of rising unemployment in the region. Industries and jobs are mostly concentrated in Indore and the ruling government did nothing to save the interests of young brains.”
