Congress battles resentment from within in Nimar

INDORE: Congress party is battling dissension and resentment from its leaders over fielding Hamid Kazi from Burhanpur seat and Gyarsi Lal Rawat in Sendhwa. Kazi was MLA from National Congress Party (NCP) from 2003 to 2005 for Burhanpur seat. On Sunday, a rally was also taken out by a group of Congress workers to protest the party’s decision of giving ticket to Hamid Kazi. While workers demanded a change in the candidate in Burhanpur, in Sendhwa a bike rally was taken out in protest.Anees Ansari, a Congress worker, said local public do not have any trust on Congress candidate Kazi because he has done nothing for them. They even threatened to campaign against Kazi if he was not changed, Kazi, when contacted, refused to comment over the issue.

On Sunday, a rally was also taken out by a group of Congress workers to protest the party’s decision of giving ticket to Hamid Kazi. They even threatened to campaign against Kazi if he was not changed, Kazi, when contacted, refused to comment over the issue. “The party has chosen me on the basis of my candidature. And, I am going to file nomination on November 8 for sure,” he said. Kazi was MLA from National Congress Party (NCP) from 2003 to 2005 for Burhanpur seat. He also served as the state president of NCP. Later he joined Indian National Congress in 2008 and contested election from the same seat and lost to Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP)’s candidate Archana Chitnis by a margin of over 32,000 votes.Congress insiders said that Kazi’s candidature was considered on the basis of demands raised by Congress minority cell members. “Nearly 40 percent population of Burhanpur come from minority (mainly Muslims).Meanwhile tribal youths took out a rally in Sendhwa town shouting slogans against Digvijaya Singh as well as Gyarsi Lal Rawat. Most of them wore JAYS T-shirts.Munna Arya and others in the rally alleged that Gyarsi Lal Rawat did not do any work for tribal and kept a distance from tribal society in the last 5 years and the party has taken a wrong decision by announcing him official candidate and high command should reconsider the decision immediately.Sukhlal Parmar told, “I will also contest, and hope the party will change its candidate in the larger interest.”At Barwani also congress leader Rajan Mandloi and his supporters are protesting the selection of the party for fielding Barwani MLA Ramesh Patel again.
