Two days after theft, cops examine crime scene

But he had to sit for six to seven hours at the police station after which a case was registered. “I had reached the police station around 11:00 am but since there was no electricity I had to wait till 2:30 pm. There is not a single CCTV in my neighbourhood and so I decided to get it installed," he said.

INDORE: Unidentified persons broke into a three-storey house of a Sarafa craftsman in Palhar Nagar of Aerodrome area and made away with cash and jewellery worth lakhs.On Tuesday, the craftsman, Ashok Dhada reached Aerodrome police station to lodge a complaint. But he had to sit for six to seven hours at the police station after which a case was registered. “I had reached the police station around 11:00 am but since there was no electricity I had to wait till 2:30 pm. Then again, they were registering some other case. They also questioned neighbours and family members and recorded their statement.In his complaint, Ashok told police that he lived on middle floor of the house, whereas his parents and brother Alok and sister-in-law lived on second and ground floors respectively. The family had returned from hospital after his sister-in-law’s delivery. All of them went to the second floor, whereas his mother slept in living room on the ground floor.Ashok said that it was only around midnight he learnt that the almirah was open and valuables were missing when he and his wife went to their room to sleep. "I checked the terrace, houses nearby but could not find anything. After this I called on dial 100 service and cops investigated the crime scene. They asked me to come to police station the next day," said Ashok."The thieves made away with jewellery and a bag stashed with important documents and identity cards by breaking wooden almirah in my room," said Ashok.On Wednesday, Ashok purchased CCTV and got it installed at his home. "More than 10 thefts have taken place in Palhar Nagar since Navratri and the accused enter houses only in the evening when women are busy buying vegetables or chatting with neighbours. There is not a single CCTV in my neighbourhood and so I decided to get it installed," he said.
