Insurance firm files writ appeal against HC order

They also claimed that IRDA had not publicized three year insurance covers and they could not provide the product to buyers in the taxi segment. The appeal was listed before division bench of Justice Prakash Shrivastava and Justice Vivek Rusia on Friday. INDORE: An insurance company has moved a writ appeal before high court challenging an interim order passed by a division bench directing the firm to provide three year insurance covers to taxi segment cars in compliance with Supreme Court order regarding the same.The insurance company has challenged this interim order on the grounds that they do not have any clear policy for giving one time insurance for three years to taxi segment cars.The insurance company also submitted that they had not received appropriate instructions from Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) for insuring such vehicles for three years. However, it could not be reached.The appeal filed by National Insurance Company Ltd challenged the order passed by Justice SC Sharma in a petition filed by Shruti Travels, whose taxis were not being given insurance by the petitioner company for three years and hence the taxis could not be registered.HC in its interim order had referred to a Supreme Court judgment clearly directing the IRDA to clear and advertise the product immediately so that it may be implemented from September 1, 2018.
