INDORE: A businessman had a narrow escape on Thursday morning after his smartphone exploded on passenger seat of his car while he was driving to office.Anil Nair, an agricultural equipment businessman , was on his way to office in Orbit Mall in his car and had kept the phone on passenger seat.“Near Robot square, there was a sudden spark in the mobile phone and a lot of smoke was coming out of it. I immediately parked my vehicle by roadside and threw the phone. As I moved away from it, the phone bursts into flames,” said Nair.He said that a major mishap was averted as on Thursday he had kept the phone on the seat. Had the phone been in his pocket like every day, he would have sustained fatal injuries, he claimed.Immediately after the incident, Nair registered a complaint on the company’s toll free number from where a service engineer was sent to his home to collect the mobile phone.“I have not handed over the phone yet to the engineer. I have asked him to make me speak with the area manager of the company after which I will give it to them,” Nair told TOI.
