IMC seizes 25 food vans for littering

Indore: Taking strict action against roadside vendors, officials of Indore Municipal Corporation have started to seize food vans found littering on roads and obstructing traffic in different areas of the city. On Friday, officials seized five food vans from areas like Palasia, Saket, Geeta Bhavan and LIG.IMC officials said vehicles like mini vans and Tata Magic vehicles are used by vendors to run soda and juice parlours. Now we have received strict instructions not release the seized vehicles," they said. IMC officials said they have already seized around 25 food vans.Regular drives are being conducted in Palasia, Saket, Geeta Bhavan, LIG Square, Vijay Nagar, BRTS, Race Course Road, Bhawarkuan etc. "Though the vehicles are not very big in size, operators of these food vans usually park them in dense traffic areas, and this affects the movement of vehicles," said MS Chouhan, head of IMC's removal wing.

Besides they also dump waste on the side of the road. He said that earlier, strict fines were levied against such vendors. But they continued with this practice, forcing the civic body to take stricter action against them.Officials said that they have been instructed not to release these vehicles on any condition. "These vendors approach senior officials to get their vehicles released. Now we have received strict instructions not release the seized vehicles," they said.
