SC seeks details of office liquidator in Hukumchand Mill’s property sale

INDORE: The Supreme Court on Tuesday sought details from official liquidator about the total amount that can be raised by selling all Hukumchand Mill's property, total pending claims of workers and secured creditors including banks.This direction was passed by bench of Justice Kurian Joseph and Justice R Bhanumathi, in which the high court was also directed to decide the applications of workers whose claims had been sent back due to certain deficiencies. A total of Rs 33.19 crore has been disbursed out of Rs 50 crore allotted by the state government.Some applications regarding legal representatives were also submitted by workers before the Supreme Court on Tuesday, which were remanded back to high court.The matter is set to be heard both by the Supreme Court and high court on October 23.

The Supreme Court continued the stay on deciding any other applications in the matter by high court.The official liquidator also told the court that out of the total 5894 former workers of the Hukumchand Mill, dues of 3908 workers had been settled and of the remaining 1986 workers, either their forms had been sent back to the labour unions for clearing deficiencies or of those who had not applied for it. A total of Rs 33.19 crore has been disbursed out of Rs 50 crore allotted by the state government.Some applications regarding legal representatives were also submitted by workers before the Supreme Court on Tuesday, which were remanded back to high court.The matter is set to be heard both by the Supreme Court and high court on October 23.
