Arunachal government sets up 46 relief camps to support stranded labourers needy people

Our CorrespondentItanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh government has set up 46 active shelter and relief camps throughout the state to support stranded migrant labourers and needy people during the nationwide lockdown to contain Covid-19 pandemic, a senior government official informed here on Monday. West Kameng and Changlang districts have the highest numbers of such camps with six each while Tawang and Kamle districts have five camps each, Disaster Management Secretary Dani Sulu informed. Lohit district has three such camps followed by state capital, Anjaw, Kra Daadi and Papum Pare with two each, the secretary said. As on date, 473 persons are kept in relief camps and shelters. In Papum Pare district a total of 145 persons are kept in relief camps and shelters followed by Siang district with 133, Lower Dibang Valley with 85 and capital complex (52).

While 13 districts out of total 26 have one shelter and relief camp each, four districts namely Pakke Kessang, Shi-Yomi, Namsai and Longding districts have not set up any such camps, Sulu added. As on date, 473 persons are kept in relief camps and shelters. In Papum Pare district a total of 145 persons are kept in relief camps and shelters followed by Siang district with 133, Lower Dibang Valley with 85 and capital complex (52). In Upper Siang a total of 20 persons are kept in government relief camps and shelters while in East Kameng 14 people are kept, West Siang 12, Lower Siang 11 and in West Kameng only one person has been kept in relief and shelter camp, the secretary added. “So far the state government has organized 11 food camps since lockdown imposed in the state, where a total of 25161 persons were provided with food items,” Sulu informed adding, NGOs of the state have also provided food items to 3086 persons so far. A total of 47169 workers have been provided shelter and food by the employers and industries in the state as of now, the secretary added.
