Liquor trader shot at and run over by opponents

JAIPUR: In a yet another rivalry in illegal liquor trade between Rajput and Jat community, a 36-year-old liquor trader was shot at and was run over by a vehicle at Samrau village under Lohawat police station area in Jodhpur(Rural) on Sunday evening. The protestors also set four shops in the village on fire, damaged police vehicles and also pelted stones. "It is alleged that one Dalpat Singh and his aides were waiting for Hanuman Ram on Sunday evening. Reacting to it timely we burst tear shells and used our pump action gun to burst rubber bullets. After the later arrived at least five persons in different vehicles hit him with their vehicles.

JAIPUR: In a yet another rivalry in illegal liquor trade between Rajput and Jat community, a 36-year-old liquor trader was shot at and was run over by a vehicle at Samrau village under Lohawat police station area in Jodhpur(Rural) on Sunday evening. Tension prevailed at the village since the villages were into a dharna along with the body of deceased demanding the arrests of all the accused in this connection. The protestors also set four shops in the village on fire, damaged police vehicles and also pelted stones. Police also burst tear shells and used pump action gains to trigger rubber bullets for dispersing the angry protesters.According to the police, Hanuman Ram Jat (36) is a history-sheeter and was involved in the illegal liquor trade. "It is alleged that one Dalpat Singh and his aides were waiting for Hanuman Ram on Sunday evening. After the later arrived at least five persons in different vehicles hit him with their vehicles. When Hanuman started running he was shot at and later he was run over by the vehicle," said Dr. Ravi, Superintendent of police, Jodhpur(Rural) while talking to TOI on Monday.Since Sunday evening his family members and villages mainly belong to his caste organised a sit in dharna and denied for the post mortem of the deceased. "While our men were negotiating some of the angry protestors set at least 4 shops on fire and also pelted stones. Reacting to it timely we burst tear shells and used our pump action gun to burst rubber bullets. At least 2 policemen were injured in the stone pelting," the SP added.Extra police force from Jodhpur was sent at the village which is nearly 117 kms away from Jodhpur. The SP and other senior officers were camping in the village to maintain law and order."We have detained five persons in this connection including the main accused. They would be arrested soon after the interrogation late in the evening," the SP added.The deceased Hanuman was also involved in firing in a Jodhpur court when he was succeeded in fleeing with Kailash Jakhar , an accused in ANM Bhanwari Devi murder case.
