Around 200-km from Suniel in Sawarda village in Baran , the family of Sanjay Meena who committed suicide on July 30 tells a similar story. Bhuddi Prakash Meena, a father-in-law of Meena has lost all hope of getting any hope from the government. Having lost only son Sanjay Meena in July 2017, his mentally retarded father awaits his son at Chabutra outside the house. "Initially, everyone came and sympathized with us and made promises from waiving off loans to a government job. The widow of Meena barely runs the house with two tender aged children and ailing father-in-law.

JAIPUR: Vishnu Lal (35), a resident of Suniel village in Jhalawar, keeps his mobile phone off to avoid calls from Sahkari Samiti in Jhalawar who have been threatening him to repay a two-year-old loan.Lal's father Bagdi Lal, a farmer, committed suicide on July 23, 2017 due to low price of garlic and pressure from the credit agencies to repay the loans. Around 200-km from Suniel in Sawarda village in Baran , the family of Sanjay Meena who committed suicide on July 30 tells a similar story. The last Kharif season has seen six suicides in the Hadoti region alone, which is political turf of chief minister Vasundhara Raje and is yet to receive any aid from the state. These families were promised loan waiver soon by the district administration but they have yet to waive it off.It questions state government's claims which allocated Rs 1.35 lakh crore to farmers including Rs 80,000 crore interest-free loans since their tenure started in 2013 (December). The farmers association's call for a protest march in Jaipur on Thursday is giving sleepless nights to the government that had fielded its ministers to hold a presser pitching about the budgetary allocations they made vis-a-vis the Gehlot-led Congress regime (2008-2013).The figures presented by Industries minister Rajpal Singh Shekawat may be giving them upper edge over the Congress rule but is that enough for the party to contain the anger of farmers."Initially, everyone came and sympathized with us and made promises from waiving off loans to a government job. My anger is that district administration along with the local unit of the ruling party had exerted pressure to call it a suicide rather due to low price of the farm produce," said Lal, who has extended his support for the farmers rally. The family in Sawarda is still in shock. Having lost only son Sanjay Meena in July 2017, his mentally retarded father awaits his son at Chabutra outside the house. The widow of Meena barely runs the house with two tender aged children and ailing father-in-law. Bhuddi Prakash Meena, a father-in-law of Meena has lost all hope of getting any hope from the government. "The family has neither financial nor human resource to attempt for the upcoming Kharif season," said Meena.Yogesh Kumar, whose elder brother Tuhi Ram committed suicide on July 28, 2017 in Bharatpur has not received a single penny from the government till date. The family is under debt of Rs 5 lakh has paid interest of couple of months while the recovery for loan amount is putting the other members of the family in deep stress. "I have been visiting collector's office but no respite," said Kumar who asked the scribe is the loan waiver of Rs 50,000 is for real or like any other assurance?Kumar was not aware of any farmer protest in Jaipur but certainly he refused to believe that state has allocated Rs1.35 lakh crore for farmers which includes Rs 28,000 crore subsidy for power.
