JAIPUR: The traffic congestion takes a toll on the market here. Many small shopkeepers and vendors voiced their concerns about how traffic problem is affecting their business.Pawan Ahuja, a shopkeeper, said that many customers dread coming all the way to Narayan Singh Circle for shopping. "There is always traffic jam or high decibel sound pollution due to honking. Customers said they can barely find space to cross the road to come to our shop," he said.According to Ahuja, some months ago, the cops crack its whip on drivers who used pressure horns. The drive remained in force for a few days after which things were back to square one.Vikas Kumar, another shopkeeper said that buses and taxis have created lot of problems in the area. "The street here is already very short, and yet it is been packed with the buses which leaves little space for others. Either the bus stand should be moved or some stringent traffic rules should be implemented," he said.The police, however, said that moving a bus stand is not in their jurisdiction."We have made a row of barricades to make separate spaces for vehicle traffic and buses. Still if somebody violates the rule, will punish them," said a traffic official.
