JAIPUR: The Gopalpura Road boasts of having one of the city widest roads. But it has three of the most chaotic and badly managed crossings.Officials informed TOI that though the police had deployed traffic constables, they cannot guard every inch of the road. "Jaipur as a city has expanded over the last five years. So, we have to prioritize our areas. We deploy cops at crossings where the traffic has become unmanageable," said an official. Gopalpura has also seen frequent accidents due to speeding vehicles hitting each other. "There are trucks and buses that refuse to abide by traffic norms and drive at reckless speed. For that, we have stationed interceptor vehicles at different junctions," the official said.Many residents here complained that their children were particularly at risk as they have to take these crossings to catch the school bus. "People have to cross. But then there are vehicles that don't slow down even when they see school children riding on their bicycles," said Pritam , a local resident of Gangotri Nagar.
