JAIPUR: In 2014, an app was launched in Rajasthan to register marriage, birth and death certificate online to make it more convenient for the public.Since then many people have complained about the formalities while filling the applications and due to lack of awareness not many people are using it.Till this day, only 10,000 people have downloaded the application from Google play store and majority have given bad reviews to it and has been given 3.5 stars by the users. Many have complained about the software being slow and people have even complained that at the end the application asked them to go the office for proper registration.Pradeep Pareek, officer at the death and birth registration cell in Jaipur Municipal Corporation said “There is a lack of awareness in people regarding this application as they are not technologically equipped. And for registration of birth certificate and marriage, one has to visit office personally. However, death and birth certificate without name can be registered online.”A person can get a birth and death certificate within 21 days of the birth or death of the person. A person can get the certificate from Municipal Corporation, city council and municipality for which a person from the family has to fill form - 1 for birth and form 2 for death. A birth certificate can be made without the name of the child. In Jaipur, more than 1 lakh registration are being done every year.A woman named Nevedita Sharma queued up at the JMC office for the marriage registration was complaining about the problems she went through. “It takes a lot of time to file the documents online as the website is very slow and after so many attempts, it showed we have to go to the registrars office to get the certificate. What is the use of this application if at the end I have to go to registrars office anyway?”
