After fatal mishap village vows to banish alcohol

Jaisalmer: A village where three youths had died recently due to drunk driving launched a bid to ban alcohol in the region. After their death, villagers decided not to consume and offer liquor and to close down the sale of liquor in the village. Demanding to close a liquor shop in the village, they submitted memorandum to district collector, SP and excise officer.Earlier too, there have been fatal accidents and many diseases due to liquor in the village. In a meeting, all villagers unanimously decided to implement this decision and decided to take all steps to implement the same. The village meeting was held on Sunday after which the villagers on Monday staged a dharna outside the liquor shop and went to Barmer to apprise the district administration.

The residents of Mithdau village in dhanau area of Barmer district, learning a lesson from the harmful effects of alcohol and increasing road accidents due to it, submitted a memorandum to ban liquor, to the local administration on Monday.Before the approval from Sarpanch and ward panch, all the villagers unanimously took an oath that nobody in the village will consume liquor after which they gave a memorandum to close liquor shops at the village, to the district collector.It is to be mentioned that a few days ago, three youths of the village died in a road accident. They were on a motorcycle and collided with a school bus. After their death, villagers decided not to consume and offer liquor and to close down the sale of liquor in the village. In a meeting, all villagers unanimously decided to implement this decision and decided to take all steps to implement the same. Demanding to close a liquor shop in the village, they submitted memorandum to district collector, SP and excise officer.Earlier too, there have been fatal accidents and many diseases due to liquor in the village. They are now going door to door to create awareness that liquor will not be served to guests.Lakshmanram Kaga, a resident and lecturer said that they have taken a decision of making village alcohol free, as alcohol is the biggest reason for accidents and diseases, is ruining families along with atrocities on women. People who are addicted to liquor will also be de-addicted with medical help.
