BSF gets permanent structure outpost towers

BSF had sent a proposal for new permanent structure of OP Towers and after getting approval, the construction started earlier this year.Confirming this, Paliwal said,” process is on for construction of permanent OP towers at various places. Jaisalmer: In order to protect BSF jawans from sunstroke, heat and dust storms, permanent structure outpost (OP) towers are being constructed with modern facilities and equipment’s for border guarding. At few temporary OP towers, wood as well as plywood is being used and being made thermal so that even during winters, they can be comfortable.” Till now plantation was done at HQ and border outposts but now planting of fruit bearing trees will be done near the OP towers as well. According to the requirement at different locations, 2-3 storied OP towers are being built and attention is being paid on the insulation to save the jawans from heat.

Jaisalmer: In order to protect BSF jawans from sunstroke, heat and dust storms, permanent structure outpost (OP) towers are being constructed with modern facilities and equipment’s for border guarding. At the international border adjoining Jaisalmer, country’s first model OP tower has been made with all facilities.On the directions of BSF Rajasthan Frontier IG Anil Paliwal, BSF 56th battalion took the initiative to construct these OP towers In Dhanana area, which has air conditioner and refrigerator amongst other facilities. The tower made of fibre sheet has all facilities for border guarding and jawans can see in all four directions. Similarly, at Shahgarh Bulj area, 68th battalion has ensured that OP towers in various locations have coolers.The older OP towers at the border are a makeshift arrangement made up of iron sheets covered with straws which are gradually to be replaced with the permanent structures. In summers, the towers become very hot making it difficult to stand guard there and especially during sand storms, there is a danger of the towers falling down. At many places coolers have been installed and in 56th battalion area, a model OP tower has been made that is fitted with AC and fridge along with other modern facilities including comfortable sitting.”Elaborating further he added,” an intensive plantation drive will be done along the Indo Pak border to make it green, for which a plan has been made. Till now plantation was done at HQ and border outposts but now planting of fruit bearing trees will be done near the OP towers as well. The work has started. At few temporary OP towers, wood as well as plywood is being used and being made thermal so that even during winters, they can be comfortable.”
