Several vehicles swept away in Jodhpur

JODHPUR: Three persons were killed when a wall collapsed due to rain in Jodhpur on Thursday evening. The met department recorded about 50mm rainfall in the city in an hour.Heavy rain, which started around 4.30 pm caused many vehicles to be swept away with the water. About half a dozen trees also fell due to heavy rain.In some markets, water entered the shops compelling the owners to flush out water using water pumps.Bus station and railway station also witnessed heavy water logging. Most of the roads including the roads in the walled city as well as the main roads, were submerged in water.Many two-wheelers and auto rickshaws swept away with the rain water forcing the owners to run after them. All three were rushed to the hospital where one was declared dead.According to the police, a wall in the parking behind Hotel Mapple Abhay, collapsed suddenly due to heavy rain.

"The three persons standing near the wall to protect themselves from rain, were badly injured when the wall fell over them. In no time, it started raining cats and dogs, turning the city into a pool of water. Most of the roads including the roads in the walled city as well as the main roads, were submerged in water.Many two-wheelers and auto rickshaws swept away with the rain water forcing the owners to run after them.
