Jaipur: The government of Rajasthan is likely to recommend the arms-licencing racket case to CBI . Senior officers of the home department have already been preparing a draft to be sent to the concerned authorities in the Union government. The involvement of some IAS officers in Jammu and Kashmir has also added to the possibility of the case to be handed over to the CBI.Making its 52nd arrest after busting the gang on September 1, 2017 the ATS had arrested Jyoti Ranjan (46) from Gurgaon for allegedly facilitating the gang in getting back date arms licences. Rajasthan police in December 2017 had already recommended for a CBI probe into the matter. “I had written to department of home to transfer the case to CBI some times back. The arms licenses in this case were issued by the authorities in Jammu and Kashmir in fraudulent manner,” said OP Galhotra while talking to TOI on Sunday. However, Galhotra added that the decision of the government in this regard is awaited. Senior officers of the Rajasthan police headquarters and home department further stated that the home department has already reviewed the progress of the case. “Since the case has inter-state involvement and some of the officers of Jammu and Kashmir were also involved in the fraudulent practice, the case will be transferred to CBI,” said a senior officer of home department on the condition of anonymity.Sources added that the file relating to the transfer of the case is with the chief minister’s office to refer it to the Centre’s Department of Personnel and Training, the nodal ministry for the CBI.At Jammu and Kashmir the government too had issued a notification on July 12 asking divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners to submit a detailed report on arms licences issued last year. The deputy commissioners of all districts have been barred from issuing any further arms licences till further orders, it said.
