To prevent rumours, the district administration has banned internet services in the region.According to police, a group of youths, who had taken out a procession during the month of Shravan , had a confrontation with members of another community who protested the playing of loud music on Sunday. This had created tension and led to a violent confrontation.“Some youths were taking out a procession through the Luharon Ka Mohalla on Churu Road in Fatehpur. They got into a verbal argument with members of another community near a religious place. Three youths sustained minor injuries in the scuffle,” said a senior police officer.On Monday, one group demanded the arrests of assailants who had allegedly attacked the procession. Right-wing Hindu outfits also called for a bandh at the market in Fatehpur town. Police had to use force when the group of protesters started pelting stones. “We have registered an FIR in this case and have detained a few persons for assault and disturbing peace,” he said..Police also used force and burst tear shells and fired rubber bullets to disperse the angry mob. Senior police officers of the district rushed to the spot to maintain law and order. “We are also in touch with the members of both communities and have asked them to cooperate in maintaining peace,” he said.Meanwhile, the Sikar district administration has banned internet services in Fatehpur town for the next 24 hours. Section 144 of the CrPC has also been imposed to prevent people from gathering at the town.“Many rumours are floating on social networking platforms, adding fuel to the fire. To restore peace, internet was banned,” he said.
