Cow shelter near Pokharan allege army broke fencing again

Jaisalmer: The dispute between Jagdamba Seva Samiti and the army over the land near Bhadaria village where a Gaushala is being run, close to Pokharan field firing range has again come into limelight as officials of the cow shelter allege that on Sunday night, army personnel broke fencing and slabs of the shelter.Army is claiming that last July a meeting was called under the chairmanship of the previous district collector and it was decided that Seva Samiti will remove the encroachment as it is creating problem in the firing practice. Police has started the investigation though this is not the first time that the police have been called to resolve the long standing issue.According to police officials, the office bearers of the Gaushala in their complaint stated that the land is of the Bhadaria temple and it is private property. They added that the complainant also said that the firing range is situated nearby, and army regularly breaks fencing and slabs. Police said that investigation has been initiated and case will be lodged on the directions of senior officers.Meanwhile, an army official on condition of anonymity said, “On July 2, a meeting was called under the chairmanship of the former district collector Anupama Jorwal in which the army, Samiti and revenue officers took part to arrive at a solution regarding the land issue in village Taurki and it was decided that Seva Samiti will remove the encroachment in two months and relocate after consultation with Army.
