Jaipur: Sikar unit of BJP on Saturday accused the Sikar police of not taking action on their FIR accusing the Congress candidate Rajendra Pareek of beating the BJP’s polling booth agent Mahendra Saini during polling on December 7, who sustained head injuries in the incident. BJP leaders have threatened to create an uproar if no appropriate action is taken in the next 24 hours.Vishnu Chetani, district BJP president told TOI, “The violent act is an attack on the entire electoral process. Despite the complaint filed by the eye witness, who has testified to the police, no arrest was made. I demand the police to arrest the named accused as there can be tampering with the evidence.” He also said that mobile videos shot by the party workers have been submitted to the police for investigation.Saini is recovering at a city hospital in Sikar. He was hit by a baton and got 15 stitches and is out of danger. The BJP has also accused the police of seizing the CCTV footage from the area, and refusing to share it with them.Tejpal Singh, ACP, Sikar police station said, “The matter is being investigated. Our teams have recorded the testimony of the victim and the eye witness. The CCTV footage is being analysed by us. On the basis of the evidence, the named accused will be questioned.” Police continued its extra security cover at the sensitive areas, keeping the incident in mind. The incident took place outside the polling booth, over rumours of fake voting.
