Jaisalmer: The customs department recovered 13,550 beauty cream containers (made in Pakistan) being brought illegally from across the border on the Thar Express at Munabao railway station. Goods have been seized and kept in ‘Mal Khana’ for recovery of duty which is amounting to Rs 6,17,288. Two persons - residents of Delhi and Godhra — have been arrested in this regard.Officials said that on the basis of prior information received by the assistant commissioner on his mobile, officers deployed at Munabao railway station seized the beauty creams in packs of 40 gms each. The duo was acting as carriers and had been hired for a payment of Rs 10,000 each.On November 3, 7,100 beauty cream packs were seized from two women passengers of Godhra and entire amount of duty and other fees were recovered within seven days. One of those arrested, Moosa, who hails from Godhra had 7,150 packs with him while Shahid from Delhi had 6,400 packs.Personal penalty of Rs 85,000 from both the passengers has been deposited.
