Shooting on sand dunes and sightseeing Kesari Nandan stars in Jaisalmer

Even though I hail from Alwar, I have visited the sand dunes only once. She says, “I enjoyed shooting on the sand dunes. Several scenes of the daily soap, Kesari Nandan, were recently shot in the desert state. Jaisalmer has turned into a shooting spot for one more TV show. It felt like I was shooting and promoting at the same time.” But Aastha herself could not explore the city much.

Inspired from the Bollywood movie Dangal, the show is based on the life of a wrestler, played by actor Manav Gohil, whose daughter Kesari, played by Chahat Tewani aspires to be a wrestler just like her father.Aastha Chaudhary and Chahat TewaniThe makers of the show shot for a few sequences in the deserts of Jaisalmer to capture the lifestyle of a common man here – how they go on about their household chores, their daily grind etc. Aastha Chaudhary, who plays the protagonist Kesari’s mother, tells us, “Even though the show is inspired from a movie, it has much more to offer. As it is a daily soap, the audience will get to see a lot of things about this colourful state, its culture and history.”Aastha ChaudharyOn her experience of shooting in the desert, Aastha says, “Shooting on the sand dunes was an ethereal experience. Even though I hail from Alwar, I have visited the sand dunes only once. I told everyone to visit the historical monuments and try the local cuisine. It felt like I was shooting and promoting at the same time.” But Aastha herself could not explore the city much. “Unfortunately, despite having stayed in Jaisalmer for nine days, I still had no time to see the city or visit the markets,” she adds.Chahat with co-actor Ankit AroraChahat, who plays the role of the young Kesari, also hails from Rajasthan. Born in Udaipur, the child artiste – who has earlier done shows like Udaan, Dil Se Dil Tak and Kesar – has spent quite a few vacations in her family house in Jodhpur. She says, “I enjoyed shooting on the sand dunes. After the shoot, I would play with sand and have fun. It’s definitely one of the experiences I will never forget. All the actors would often go for long walks to explore the city and enjoy the weather.” Chahat, who is into sports like tennis, tells us that she enjoyed the rigorous training she underwent for the show. She adds, “To play the role convincingly, I took extensive training for one month in wrestling.”
