JAIPUR: Rajasthan police are on alert following intelligence inputs about suspected movements of dreaded terrorist and leader of Ansar Ghazwatul Hind ( AHU ) Zakir Musa in Sriganganagar district.The sources informed TOI that Srigangangar district had issued a letter to all Station House officers (SHOs) of the district on Wednesday, warning them about mounting a strict vigil around sensitive areas especially near inter-state borders of Punjab and army areas.“The alert was issued in accordance with input shared by special agencies. A similar intelligence input was issued ahead of the assembly elections,” an official told TOI on condition of anonymity.The Punjab and Rajasthan police had also increased collective vigil on the interstate border in the first week of December. The sources said that intelligence agencies have asked the police stations to mount a strict vigil in areas of strategic importance.“It is suspected that the terrorist on the run could target army installations on Rajasthan Punjab border. Both the state police are in touch with each other for better monitoring,” the official said, adding that multiple alerts have been issued in the past about Musa’s movements in Rajasthan.Rajasthan ATS and state intelligence have also been keeping a tab over his activities. “Sriganganagar shares border with Pakistan, hence, the police are always on alert, strict vigil is being mounted in villages and hotels,” the official said.The police and sleuths are scanning rest rooms, guest houses, railway stations, bus stands, taxi depots and hostels for suspects. Apart from Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh district has also been asked to timely report any suspicious activities. Both cities are located on Punjab border.
