Jaipur: Complaints of inflated power bills have been pouring in despite discoms starting monthly spot billing. The consumers’ main grievance is that it is over-charging the consumers on other charges like permanent charges on a two months schedule. However, discoms denied any anomaly and said if any consumer has been over charged it would be adjusted in the next bill.A K Gupta, managing director of JVVNL told TOI while ruling out any anomaly in billing that, “If there is any over-charging in the bills inadvertently, it will be rectified in the next billing cycle.” The complaint is mainly concerning the permanent charge where in some single month’s bills, bill for two months have been levied.JVVNL issued a clarification in this regard on Saturday. Superintending engineer of Jaipur Circle, J K Mishra, said monthly spotting billing system has been introduced in the Jaipur Circle from January this year. He said those consumers who had paid their last power bills in November will get two months bill in January. But those consumers who had paid their power bill only in December will get one month bill. Consumers who are comparing these two bills are confused. “Those consumers who were issued two months’ bill are being charged two months’ permanent charges while those who were issued one month bill have been levied only one-month permanent charge,” he claimed. However, some consumers complained that even in the single month bills other charges were levied very high.
