BJP assures support to Gujjars in Parl

Had the acted on time, our Gujjar brothers would have not hit the tracks and roads. BJP's assurance has put the ball in the court of government.

Jaipur: BJP unit of Rajasthan has assured all support to the Gujjar community in granting reservation in the Parliament on Monday.State president Madan Lal Saini said, “State BJP will use its influence in Delhi for our Gujjars brothers,” while taking a dig at CM Ashok Gehlot who stated that Central government to intervene in meeting the demands of Gujjars, said, "Lets the government propose and pass legislation in the assembly and send it to the central government. Thereafter, the BJP will leave no stone unturned to help them. Our central leaders are sensitive towards the issue and have been keeping an eye.”The assurance from the state president came after Congress leaders have been passing the buck by stating that granting reservation above 50% requires an amendment in the central act and it is the purview of the central government. BJP's assurance has put the ball in the court of government. Gujjar leader, Kirori Lal Baisla has demanded a separate 5% reservation which has been strike down by the court in the past.Expressing concern over the law and order in the protest affected areas, Saini held government responsible for the 'mess' in the state. "It is unfortunate that government has failed to take the pre-emptive measures to contain the pre-decided Gujjar agitation putting the entire state on toes. Had the acted on time, our Gujjar brothers would have not hit the tracks and roads. I have heard that government has taken any serious measures to resolve the matter," said SainiFormer cabinet minister Arun Chaturvedi, who has closely followed the Gujjar agitations, says that issue needs to carefully handle in the light of constitutional remedies. Echoing the concerns, Chaturvedi says that i dont see any concrete effort by the government in reaching out to the community.
