Alwar: CRPF jawan Jeet Ram from Bharatpur , who was martyred in the Pulwama attack, was a role model for the young men in his village. He was known for motivating the boys in Sunderwali to join the defence and paramilitary forces and had himself signed up for serving the country in 2010.His uncle Pooran Singh said, “Jeet Ram was very popular among the youth in our village. He would make it a point to work on their physique and strengthen them mentally whenever he came on leave. He would wake up early and take six to seven boys for a run. He taught them every day not just the school subjects but about life in the forces. He was very passionate about his job and wanted the boys in the village to lead better lives.”It was no different when he was on leave recently before heading back to Kashmir on February 12. While he was the only earning member, his family is yet to be told about his death. The villagers gathered on the road outside his house and are not letting anyone go in to avoid breaking the sad news to his family members.Sarpanch of Sunderwali Devhari Singh said, “His uncle and younger brother are the only family members who have been informed about his death. His brother is on his way back from Delhi. Married just five years ago, he has two young daughters and we fear that his wife might not be able to handle the devastating news. It is a big blow to not just his parents and family but to the entire village. He was someone who was respected and looked up to in the village. Another CRPF jawan, who was there, confirmed Jeet Ram’s death.” The mortal remains are expected to reach his village by Saturday morning.
