Jaipur: In a gruesome incident, a 60-year old man axed to death his wife and two granddaughters - aged 6 and 4 - before committing suicide. The incident happened on Sunday night in Jalore district. According to the police, the culprit, Tararam Meghwal was suffering from mental disorder. The incident is of Bhatrajune in Jalore district on Sunday late night. Padam Pal Singh, SHO, Bhatrajune police station told TOI, “Meghwal’s son, Heera Ram, left for his field around 8 pm on Sunday and soon after the family went to bed. Meghwal has a history of mental illness and sometime during the night he woke up and slit the throats of his 57-year-old wife and two granddaughters. Following this he hung himself from a tree near his house.”His daughter-in-law and one granddaughter were saved since they were sleeping in another room with the door locked from inside. “When the son came back early morning, no one opened the door and he climbed the wall to get inside the house. He came back to a scene of slaughter with both his children dead. He woke up his wife and then informed us. The case is very clear though the reason for this sudden spree of killing by Meghwal is still unclear. Perhaps he fought with his family members that worsened his mental condition leading to the gruesome violence,” added Singh.The remaining family as well as other locals are in a state of shock and the police official added that the mother of the two children who were killed by their own grandfather is inconsolable. Meghwal did not have a permanent job and would do odd jobs for an income.
