It noted that the government had withdrawn 162 cases involving 8,550 persons and this has encouraged the people to resort to blackmailing the government with the threat of violent agitations.Commission chairman, Justice Prakash Tatia urged that the state government should give out a loud and clear message that agitations promoting jams on railway tracks can’t be promoted. “If such practices of jamming the roads and rail routes are easily allowed, these agitations will turn violent,” he remarked.The chairman said that prima facie, blocking railway tracks is a crime under section 150,151 and 174 of The Railways Act, 1989 and there is a provision of 10 years’ imprisonment for this crime.“If rail passengers get stuck amidst the agitation, they get terrorised.
