The chief minister stressed that the country’s democracy was under threat from Modi and BJP president Amit Shah. The Congress leaders highlighted the poll promises fulfilled by the Gehlot-government that was formed in December last year. If he joins Bollywood, he will be successful. “BJP and RSS call people anti-national when they pose questions to the PM,” Gehlot said. Farm loan waivers, unemployment allowances, old age pensions and free medicine scheme were mentioned among the promises fulfilled by the Congress government.

JAIPUR: Chief minister Ashok Gehlot once again compared Prime Minister Narendra Modi to film actors, targeting the latter for his political statements, on Thursday.Launching Congress’ Lok Sabha poll campaign in the state from Laxmangarh near Sikar, the chief minister accused the prime minister of failing to deliver on his promises made during the 2014 general elections.“You must have watched actors performing in Bollywood and Hollywood movies. Their performances have no connect with the reality. Modi ji has been acting like this for past five years. If he joins Bollywood, he will be successful. He promised to bring back the country’s black money but could not bring even a penny in five years. He failed to give the promised two crore jobs also,” Gehlot said, while addressing a public assembly. The chief minister had made similar remarks against the PM while talking to reporters at Ajmer a day earlier. On both occasions, deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot accompanied him.Beginning Congress’ poll campaign from the Shekhawati region, which sends maximum personnel to country’s defence forces, Gehlot alleged the PM and the BJP were exploiting the actions of our Forces to win elections. “BJP and RSS call people anti-national when they pose questions to the PM,” Gehlot said. The chief minister stressed that the country’s democracy was under threat from Modi and BJP president Amit Shah. “If Modi ji becomes the PM again, the country might not have elections ever again,” he said.Deputy CM Pilot said the people of Shekhawati would vote out BJP in Lok Sabha just as they voted it out in the state assembly elections three months back.Congress general secretary and state in-charge Avinash Pande, education minister Govind Singh Dotasra and former union minister Subhash Maharia, who is likely to get the party ticket from Sikar, also addressed the public meeting.Later in the day, Gehlot, Pilot and Pande addressed another election rally at Niwai in Tonk district. The Congress leaders highlighted the poll promises fulfilled by the Gehlot-government that was formed in December last year. Farm loan waivers, unemployment allowances, old age pensions and free medicine scheme were mentioned among the promises fulfilled by the Congress government. The party would hold elections rallies in Dungargarh (Bikaner), Pipar City (Jodhpur) and Makrana (Nagaur) on Friday.
