In addition to this, a monthly test will be conducted in every college for all subjects. “The new time-table will be implemented in all 250 government colleges in the state. “College teachers are already overburdened with the coaching classes recently started by the department. Through the monthly exams, students will have a healthy competition among themselves with a monthly revision, though the marks will not be added in the semester exams.”However, college education teachers are skeptical over the decision. Narayana Lal Gupta, general secretary of Rajasthan universities and college teachers association (Rashtriya) said that this decision is not practical to implement and will add an extra burden on the teachers.

JAIPUR: To improve the quality of education in the state, Rajasthan college education department has decided to implement a common timetable in all government colleges in the upcoming academic session from July.Colleges have been asked to design a model timetable where along with the time and subject, details of the chapters to be taught on a particular day, will be mentioned. This new timetable will be implemented from July 2019 and all the colleges have been asked to design a model timetable and send it to the college education department by April 10 after which it will be finalised. In addition to this, a monthly test will be conducted in every college for all subjects. A merit list will be prepared on the basis of the exam though they will not affect the students merit in the semester exam.Commissioner college education, Pradeep Kumar Borad, said that this decision is taken to create a student centric academic environment in the state. “The new time-table will be implemented in all 250 government colleges in the state. We are confident that this will increase transparency in teaching and will improve the quality of teaching. “College teachers are already overburdened with the coaching classes recently started by the department. Moreover, there are many colleges that are still being run in the temporary buildings, insufficient faculty and administrative staff. A teacher might have to be present in college class, coaching or in department meetings. However, without taking the teachers in confidence, department has taken this decision which is not feasible to implement for long run.”However, Pradeep Borad has made it clear that the colleges where faculty of a particular subject is not present, a recorded video of a lecture of that subject will be sent to that college which will help the students understand better.
