JAIPUR: A 31-year-old bookseller was arrested on Thursday by the Jaipur police for a Facebook post seeking a ‘contract’ to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi The accused said that he was unhappy with PM Modi and the works undertaken by the central government.Naveen Kumar, a native of Haryana, was arrested from his room in Barkat Nagar in the city.Jaipur police’s Abhay Command and Control Centre that tracks different social media platforms got moving after it detected the ‘threatening’ post on Kumar’s Facebook account.‘Should not have gone that far on social media’Jaipur: “He claimed to have ideological disagreements with the PM,” said an official.According to Bajaj Nagar SHO Manvendra Singh , Kumar on March 26 wrote social media posts asking if anybody could give him a ‘suprari’ to murder Modi. “He also claimed to have a “fool-proof” plan for the same. As soon as the matter came to light we searched for his whereabouts and arrested him on Friday,” Singh said.At the police station, Kumar, who runs a book shop at Triveni Nagar crossing near Gopal Pura bypass, claimed he did not intend to murder or kill the PM.“My intentions were not wrong. I just posted the message because I wanted to check if it could create any buzz,” he said, adding that he does not have any political affiliation and merely wanted to test the waters.“I made a huge mistake, I should not have gone that far on social media,” he said. The Bajaj Nagar police have booked the accused under stringent sections of the IPC including Section 124(A) (Sedition). Other tougher Sections include statements conducing to public mischief (505), and Punishment for criminal intimidation (506) of the IPC.
