Foreign notes worth Rs 48 lakh 350gm gold seized at airport 2 detained

Jaipur: The customs department had major success in two separate seizures at the Jaipur International Airport in the form of foreign currency amounting to Rs 48 lakh being exported to Thailand . Since the beginning of the year, customs department has caught half a dozen individuals trying get gold in the country illegally. Everything including sandals, iron, fountain pen and even human rectum are being used by smugglers to conceal gold in various forms, to smuggle into India. Many of them carried the gold in their rectums.In 2015 and 2016, there was a sudden rise in the smuggling cases, in which Jaipur airport was used as a transit route to smuggle gold into India. On being questioned about the money, the two could not give a satisfactory reason behind carrying this big amount.

Two persons were apprehended. 350 grams of gold was also found on a passenger who was carrying it illegally in a flight from Dubai.The two passengers detained for carrying the foreign currency were travelling from Jaipur to Bangkok and had hidden it in the base and handles of their suitcases. On being questioned about the money, the two could not give a satisfactory reason behind carrying this big amount. The two were to take the Thai Smile flight from Jaipur International Airport.In another investigation by the customs department, a man who landed in Jaipur from Dubai was caught with 350 grams of gold in form of springs hidden in the handle of his suitcase.According to the data available with the customs department, after a brief hiatus in 2017, at least 18 to 19kg of gold was seized by sleuths of customs in 2018, which was worth nearly Rs seven crore in the Indian market. Since the beginning of the year, customs department has caught half a dozen individuals trying get gold in the country illegally. Many of them carried the gold in their rectums.In 2015 and 2016, there was a sudden rise in the smuggling cases, in which Jaipur airport was used as a transit route to smuggle gold into India. However, the year 2017 did not have any considerable instances of such incidents. Everything including sandals, iron, fountain pen and even human rectum are being used by smugglers to conceal gold in various forms, to smuggle into India.
